Welcome to My Brain Fart
Monday, July 22nd, 2002hello and welcome all thirsty readers, old and new. one thing that you will notice foremost will be the lack of capitalization. call me a lazy english teacher, but in this particular writing medium, it just doesn’t seem all that important. i know that there will be grammarians rolling over in the graves, but there are more important fish to fry here.
i want to use this blog as a stage, if you will, for any personal little tidbits, stories, updates, book suggestions, life philosophies, and the like. eventually i will even learn how to set up a photo gallery of sorts, and i will probably make you my captive audience on any writing that i’ve been working on. don’t hit escape just yet. i won’t bore you; i promise!
anywho. to answer the burning question about the button that led you here. no, it’s not the world wrestling federation symbol! but i guess, in a way you’re on the right track. to let you in on a little dawn trivia, i adore wonder woman, and that is her symbol. yes, i know i should get over my childhood fantasies of owning an invisible plane, and put away my magic lasso, but you have to admit the costume is appealing. earlier this summer i found, quite by accident, a library book on the history of wonder woman. i consumed it in an afternoon reading on my deck, in my hammock, thank you very much.
back to wonder woman, she was created by a male psychologist dr. william marston moulton who basically had a theory that during the 40s that women were destined, because of our obvious genetic predisposition to love, to rule the world through peace. this guy was on to something and it made for good comics and a good role model for girls. i vaguely remember wonder woman, via lynda carter, and have only gained a relatively recent respect for her.
back a few summers ago on a visit to calgary, i stopped at a stationary store and immediately fell in love with a wonder woman journal. it had the vintage wonder woman comic figure and it was too cool. that’s when i picked up journalling again, and i have wonder woman to thank for that. she rocks.
i’ll leave you this evening with a joke. as most of you know, i work at day camp for kids in the summer. here’s a joke recently told at our afternoon snack time:
where do you find a turtle with no legs?
the last place you had it.
get it? ha, ha.
