I Think I’m Gonna Hurl…
Tuesday, July 27th, 2004This is how it began. I felt a little quesy at breakfast while visiting some friends in Portland. No biggie.
Then the missed period. The missed period. The missed period. Surely these are signs of something…
Two negative tests and one positive test later, it’s confirmed! We are going to have a baby. Good Lord, what were we thinking?
Thankfully, everything has gone well. We have an early March due date and I can’t wait to get big and puffy and round. Oh joy, oh bliss. The only real morning sickness I’ve had was really early on, and then it went away.
It came back last week. Ughhhh. And like all pregnant women will tell you, it’s a misnomer to call it “morning” sickness. Last Monday I woke up, brushed my hair, then got on my hands and knees and crawled to the toilet. Fortunately, I hadn’t had any food in my stomach, so I just dry heaved into the cool porceline bowl. Then I laid on the floor some more and had the cold sweats. That began the fun.
Since then I’ve spent my days and nights in a semi-nauseas state. It’s like being on the open ocean with a semi-stormy sea gently nudging your stomach juices into an agitated state. At dinner with a friend, just listening to him describe the frog legs his brother ate made me almost toss my cookies. So I still need food, and I still get reallly hungry, but it makes me feel yucky.
So now begins a whole new source of entertainment for one and all. Only seven more months to go.
