So Many Projects, So Little Time….
the clock is ticking and my lazy days of summer are nearing a foreseeable close. *sniff, sniff*
this is when i start panicking about all the projects around the house i want to get done before school starts up again. unfortunately, most times i have project a.d.d. like yesterday, i started ripping my kitchen floor up.
yup. peel ‘n stick tile is my new nemesis. and then i discovered how understated the “stick” in “peel ‘n stick” truly is. i was sitting on the floor with my feet braced on the kitchen cabinets, my putty knife unearthing layers of nasty, sticky tiles. yes, layers. more than one. another fine example of the previous owner’s deft remodeling skills. simply gnaw the paper off the new tiles and slap them on to the old stuff. whoo-doggy! would it have killed them to do at least one project the right way? obviously yes.
so i’m plugging away, peeling back sticky layer after sticky layer. and then there’s this mess that i’m now having to contend with. enter a.d.d. now that i’ve peeled away about seven tiles, what exactly am i going to do with this catastrophe i’ve created? umm, maybe i should stop and think ahead of just getting rid of the ugliest floor in the world.
so now that’s on hold while i shop around for new flooring that will be a much needed aesthetic improvement. and tony’s only stuck his foot in the gluey nast, missing tile section of the kitchen twice. heh, heh.
and then i found these cool tiles in the basement which has inspired a wall art piece. now all i need to do is figure out how to lay tile. and of course, there’s still trim that needs painting, and the banister, and the bathroom paint….
