ella-gisms
Saturday, December 15th, 2007every once in awhile i stop to take stock of the ever expanding expressions that ella has gained. she’ll be three in march, so she’s been around long enough to have developed some interesting ways to turn a phrase. here is just a small collection of my favorites and some helpful contextual information.
going “poopy in the potty” is a big deal in my house. ella’s potty training has taught her to celebrate each and every poopy as a special moment. the other day she was standing over her latest accomplishment and yelled, “it’s a mommy poopy and a baby poopy!” because one was big and one was small. awwwww.
she’s into dinosaurs and princesses. i asked her if she was a princess and she said yes. then she thought for a second, “no, mama. i’m a t-rex. rooooar!”
randomly, if we’re at a store, just the two of us, she’ll yell out, “mama, is that my daddy?” pointing to whatever male just happens to be standing within listening range. “um, no honey. the test came back negative.”
or my other personal favorite: i was standing five feet from her and she whined, “no mama, that hurts!” thankfully, the other person near us saw that i wasn’t beating my child in public. i only do that in private, silly.
my brother and sister-in-law bought ella spider man pyjamas and and a blanket this summer. so now she says, “i’m spider man. i’m a superhero” and insists tony fly her around her room. it’s very cute.
when she wants you to turn off the light when it’s bed time: “turn on the light off, dada!”
if i can remember any more i’ll add them later.
